Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage caused by elevated blood sugar over time — most commonly in the feet and hands. Symptoms include burning, numbness, tingling, and balance problems that worsen at night.
What it is
Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage caused by elevated blood sugar over time — most commonly in the feet and hands. Symptoms include burning, numbness, tingling, and balance problems that worsen at night.
Common symptoms
- Burning, stabbing, or 'pins and needles' in the feet
- Numbness that started in the toes
- Loss of balance, especially in the dark
- Pain that worsens at night
- Wounds that heal slowly
What's actually causing it
Sustained high blood sugar damages the small nerves and the microcirculation that feeds them. Reduced blood flow, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation accelerate the damage.
What happens if you ignore it
Untreated diabetic neuropathy progresses to loss of protective sensation — patients stop feeling injuries to their feet, leading to ulcers, infections, and, in advanced cases, amputation. Early intervention dramatically improves long-term outcomes.
What recovery looks like
Our structured neuropathy program — combined with tighter blood sugar control — improves sensation, balance, and pain for the majority of diabetic patients.
