Numbness & Tingling
Numbness and tingling — in the hands, feet, arms, or legs — are warning signs of nerve irritation, compression, or peripheral neuropathy. They should never be ignored.
What it is
Numbness and tingling — in the hands, feet, arms, or legs — are warning signs of nerve irritation, compression, or peripheral neuropathy. They should never be ignored.
Common symptoms
- 'Pins and needles' that come and go
- Numb fingers, toes, or limbs
- Hands or feet that 'fall asleep' easily
- Weakness or clumsiness with grip or walking
- Symptoms that worsen at night
What's actually causing it
Most numbness and tingling comes from either a pinched nerve in the spine (cervical or lumbar) or peripheral neuropathy in the nerves themselves. Less commonly, vitamin deficiencies, thyroid issues, or systemic disease contribute.
What happens if you ignore it
Persistent nerve irritation progresses to permanent loss of sensation and strength. The longer a nerve is compressed or damaged, the less likely it is to fully recover.
What recovery looks like
Treatment depends on the source. Pinched nerves often respond to chiropractic and decompression; peripheral neuropathy responds to our structured neuropathy program.
