Peripheral Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the small nerves of the feet and hands, causing numbness, burning, tingling, balance problems, and pain that worsens at night.
What it is
Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the small nerves of the feet and hands, causing numbness, burning, tingling, balance problems, and pain that worsens at night.
Common symptoms
- Burning or stabbing pain in the feet
- Numbness, tingling, or 'pins and needles'
- Loss of balance, especially in the dark
- Sensation of walking on cotton or gravel
- Pain that disrupts sleep
What's actually causing it
Diabetes is the most common driver, but chemotherapy, autoimmune disease, vitamin deficiencies, and idiopathic small-fiber neuropathy are also common. Reduced blood flow and chronic nerve inflammation accelerate the damage.
What happens if you ignore it
This is the condition where waiting is the most costly. Untreated peripheral neuropathy progresses from numbness to loss of protective sensation — patients stop feeling injuries to their feet, leading to wounds, infections, and in advanced cases amputation. Falls become more frequent. The longer you wait, the less nerve tissue is left to recover. Early intervention dramatically improves the long-term outlook.
What recovery looks like
Our structured neuropathy program improves circulation, calms inflamed nerves, and restores function for the majority of patients — even those told nothing more could be done.
